Norman Buckley is a specialist with over 40 years experience in test development and organisational work. His work focuses on delivering practical organisational benefits underpinned by deep psychological understanding.
Norman graduated in Psychology in Sydney and gained initial experience with an Australian consulting organisation. From 1978 he ran his own UK company, pioneering the use of custom-built assessment and development processes. He worked extensively on biographical and personality data analysis.
Facet5 was launched in January 1990, based on ten years of research in personality theory. Norman has continued to develop the tool since and, Facet5 is now a fully web-enabled, multi-lingual approach to personality. The base personality assessment drives a range of diagnostic tools covering individual differences, leadership, corporate culture, team working and the environment. These tools take a common approach and use a non-technical vocabulary to transform the way organisations manage their human capability, thus delivering superior performance.
Norman’s extensive experience of psychometric and assessment methods, and questionnaire design underlies his continuing development of numerous innovative assessment and development centres. He has huge experience in training managers to use assessment techniques and in delivering programmes of assessment, counselling and development. He worked for many years as a consultant to newly privatised organisations as they moved from research bodies to commercial entities.
Norman travels extensively to support business partners in the EU, USA, South America and Asia Pacific. His clients include global consultancies, multi-nationals in the pharmaceutical, manufacturing, retail, aviation, cosmetics, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, food and tobacco sectors, as well as in central and local government departments and education. However, he now concentrates primarily on research and development while providing in depth support to the global network of Facet5 partners.
Norman's current interests focus on analysis of national character, cross cultural assessment, the creation of culture free ability measures and the interaction between personality and problem solving style.
Having graduated in psychology in 1980, Rebekah spent 8 years in the field of clinical research. She specialised in childbirth and women’s health issues and was part of an international programme dedicated to improving the understanding and treatment of Puerperal Psychosis.
During this time she was also very active in the Women’s Health movement and was instrumental in setting up and running the first two Well Women clinics in Manchester, UK. She worked as a Counsellor for the clinics and helped establish the first community based self-help groups in the region. Towards the end of her clinical work, Rebekah was seconded to the Manchester University Medical School to work with trainee GP’s, developing doctor patient communication programmes.
Rebekah transferred to the field of business psychology in 1987 and completed a second Masters degree, in Organisational Psychology at UMIST. From here she worked with organisations in both the public and private sector, delivering key consulting assignments for major organisational change/restructuring programmes in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. During this time she developed specific expertise in the design and delivery of corporate climate surveys and team leader assessment and development programmes.
Rebekah started working with Facet5 in 1996, initially developing a unique range of personal development methodologies. During this time she also delivered many individual and team development programmes for both UK and European clients. Her work with Facet5 ranged from individual assessment, leadership development and teambuilding to the design and delivery of training programmes to transfer complex knowledge and technology to clients.
Facet5 moved its headquarters to Australia in 2000 and Rebekah relocated to Sydney as a Director and co-author. She continues to be involved in global product development and has responsibility for global training and accreditation standards, as well as developing an e-learning strategy.

I knew that good psychometric tools were out there, but they needed a great deal of training and experience to use them properly. Someone challenged me- without any warning - to come up with something that was quick, easy to use, and gave more than the existing tools of the day.
